Abstract

Dialects are particularly interesting in terms of forming complex words. In this regard, rich factual material appears in the vocabulary of the Adjarian dialect and follows the rules of receiving composites in the Georgian literary language. A composite is a neologism at the moment of formation, but it can contain a word root that is no longer in use and has become a part of history.

The composites in the vocabulary of the Adjarian dialect contain ancient, archaic or ancient lexeme roots known to old Georgian, lexical units specific to Adjarian, Georgian-foreign hybrid or borrowed composites. The new, complex lexical units appear in a language or dialect is a continuous process, and such words often become established in the lexical fund.
